ale na wszelki wypadek prosze bardzO:)
im sumwhat dissapointed with the skidpad because theres no real purpose for testing
i thought it would have been real neat to have a timed slalom or a autocross type thing
different sections to really 'test' the cars handiling
i mean no disrespect becuase after all this is a very great game

There's probably 400 cones spread around the skip pad area... use those for slalom. Make up your own Autocross course. So many look like just random placings of cones until youre walked through them.
Use the skid pad to find the optimal tire pressure settings for your car. Its not about going around faster... I can do an 8 second lap if I keep an understeering GTI floored and 100% wheels turned in. Its about finding the balance of your setup, then tuning to make it better.
I agree with Driftking on this one.

The skidpad is damn good fun with the turbo. I love holding a drift all the way around. It's also fun just to muck around on when I don't want to race.

Yes and a great place to online muck around with other players cars too. Just like a parking lot and up to 12 loonies racing around in what seems to be a perpetual joyride. Ferreal!

Timed slalom? Here we go.
Yesterday me and my brother met on-line.
Some time ago we have participated in the amateur rally events.
He driver, me co-driver. Most of the test was slaloms.
So, I too Paint and made a SkidPad map.
Next there was a siple think, to prapare a slalom route.
After few minuts we were racing.
One of us was, a jury as a spectator and other was a racer.
NOTE:
You have to set 2 lap race for this slalom.
Have fun.
Especially with XR

Yaper -- OMG! That layout looks a lot like one the autocross courses I raced at!
I hate to threadjack, but what if a bunch of us got together and held a skidpad autocross? Would anyone be interested in that? I'm thinking one guy runs, and then EVERYONE else that isn't running spectates him, that way if one spectator misses something, the other ten won't. Then one person in charge would write down the racer's time. Each racer gets four runs, with your fastest run being the one used to rank you against the others. What do y'all think?

I've followed the example of the courses layouts I raced at.

I don't think so.

Thats exactly what we've planned.
One is running, other are watching. One is keeping the scores.
If we make few layouts, we can do a little rally compound of few slaloms. Sum of time + penalties makes the winner.
Pitty that we aren't able to set up our own cone layouts
Byt maybe in a future.

Excellent. This is a race "type" that's good fun, needs good car control, and can easily be improved/enhanced by Scawen if the "Yaper-Layout-Autotest Competition" kicks off
If 3rd party people (us) are allowed to place cones wherever we want on a flat "car park" area, and add timing lines, and set a time penalty for knocking over a cone... suddenly we have unlimited course variations and infinite flexibility. Sweet.
Let's have a go at Yaper-Layout-Autocross anyway like Dolemite said, to see how well it all works in practice.

ok we tried it, and it's fun. Takes a while to learn the route, which is why we're going to need Scawen to add a dotted yellow paint line or maybe the cones need signboards attached to them or something.
Great fun when it's your turn but lots of waiting between goes. Maybe 6 cars could all race at the same time in ghost mode. So on the local machine you see the other 5 guys as ghosts, and if they hit cones you see a ghost cone spin off into the distance (but your cone stays in place).
Definite potential here.
Edit: Yaper the yellow cone in the lower left of your picture doesn't exist! We used the one nearest it instead (which is also yellow). Best time was a 52.03 I think (vari) but Rich went quicker, but he hit a cone so a penalty puts him last.

<-- see the sign he's holding? If there was one of those on each cone we could put signs on the boards, like ">>" and "<<" for keep left/keep right, and some kind of circle thing for "drive round me clockwise" or whatever.

Exactly. In Poland it is the first rally skill step. Its called KJS.
Here is some pictures of our Fiat126p in action.

and here is example layout

Are You reading my mind?
Now it is all in Scawen's hands.

That will be tooo easy. In real live co-driver has a pace-notes.
So he (me) calls the drivers where are next cones to drive.
Sometimes he do it by voice (my hairpin, yours square), soemimes by finger aim. Somtimes driver don't want to hear his co-driver and miss the route.

In real live there are few slaloms located in the different places of the city. You have to drive from one to other in street traffic.
We've got a road book, time controls, etc. Almost like in real rally, but slightly simplified. So we can start few servers, with one admin on each. On each server is different layout, so if You drove first run, then you log onto next serwer, there you can drive next stage.
We can do time controls, before each run.
Excuse me if I'm too excited, but I'm great rally fan.

I'm glad You like it.

You are right. I've made that layout at work (sic). So I've not got all the comfort, to work with LFS. Now it is correct.

OK, I just did about two hours of lapping that course and got my time down to 0.51 in the turbo.
Its more fun to drift it all, but WAY faster to drive for grip.
The best thing is that this course REQUIRES you to use the handbrake to be fast. LOVE IT.
the Slalom is where are your time is made or lost.
I alos managed to make it through about 4 times in a row without hitting a cone or two... though I rarely knowcked them over
Genius!!!!!
