Thompson was one of the most athletic cornerbacks in the draft and his short area quickness allowed him to match-up easily to most receiver in the short to intermediate sectors of the field. Kirlew was best known for his consistent effort and his fierce competitiveness on the football field. He had a really high football IQ and was one of the better defensive linemen in the country when it came to reading defenses. Unfortunately, he did not have the size nor the athleticism to make him a premium draft prospect in this draft class, causing him to fall to the seventh round.
